Our first snowfall marked the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year!

Some people may have been surprised by the abrupt change in weather, but if you need motivation to get into the holiday spirit, we’ve compiled festive activities you can look forward to attending in the weeks ahead.

Vancouver Christmas Market

Checking out one of the city's several markets, pop-ups, or fairs—the Vancouver Christmas Market being the largest of them all—is one of the greatest ways to get into the holiday spirit. You can expect to find German Glühwein, syrup-filled pancakes, gulasch, and so much more.

Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge

A long-standing holiday tradition in North Vancouver is the Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge. With thousands of shimmering lights illuminating the famous suspension bridge and other parts of the park, the natural paradise will be turned into a spectacular Christmas experience.

When: November 19, 2022, until January 22, 2023 (closed on December 25)
Time: 11 am to 9 pm daily
Where: Capilano Suspension Bridge Park – 3735 Capilano Road, North Vancouver
Tickets: Various prices, with annual passes (included with admission) available for BC residents - purchase online!

Festival of Lights at VanDusen


One of Vancouver’s largest holiday light displays has announced its seasonal return starting November 25th! Discover over a million lights spread across 15 acres, including brand-new shows and old favorites for everyone to enjoy.

When: November 25, 2022, to January 2, 2023 (Closed on Christmas Day)
Time: 4 pm to 10 pm (last entry time 8:30 to 9 pm)
Where: VanDusen Botanical Garden – 5251 Oak Street, Vancouver
Admission: $11-$21, free for children 4 years and under (purchase online!)

PNE Winter Fair

This December, the PNE is hosting a brand-new winter fair that you won't want to miss. You can expect indoor concerts, holiday-themed food and drinks, a seasonal marketplace, light displays, and more.

When: December 14-23 (4:30 pm – 10 pm)

Bright Nights at Stanley Park

Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Bright Nights in Stanley Park and witness one of Vancouver's most magical holiday light displays, featuring millions of sparkling lights. *According to the Vancouver Sun, the popular holiday train rides are a no go this year because of safety issues caused by mechanical problems.

Admission: By donation with all proceeds benefiting the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.
Dates: December 1, 2022 to January 1, 2022
Times: 4pm to 10pm

Shipyards Skate Plaza

The Shipyards Skate Plaza is a free outdoor skating rink open 1 pm - 8 pm daily (weather permitting). Set against the stunning backdrop of the North Shore mountains, Downtown Vancouver, and the waterfront, you’ll be amazing by the scenery and your little ones will have a fantastic time!
